Love Child

Love Child

Even champagne was the love child
	of a cold night, was constellations
forming in the mouth of a man who knew God.

To be a child born in the heat
	of a moment means I will never
be burned by love or the absence of it.

The unmarked skin on a body with tattoos
	is called a holiday, the place an artist rests
until a plan for further puncture is made.

I wouldn’t rather be the set appointment than
	the tattooed name you are made to regret.
I like that I was a quickened pulse, an impulse.

I want to be a good story you can’t wait to tell.
